SILGO® 48 effect on Surface Tension
Effect of SILGO® 48 on reducing surface tension when applied with Plant Protection Product and foliar fertilizers
Definition:
Surface tension is the tendency of a liquid’s surface to minimize its area due to cohesive forces between molecules.
Units:
Measured in Newtons per meter (N/m) in SI and dynes per centimeter (dyne/cm) in CGS.
Thus we see droplets of water on surfaces when water is sprayed on that surface. See diagram

Spray Coverage and Surface Tension Reduction
This results in the applied water on a surface resulting in reduced cover.
When applying Plant Protection Products or foliar fertilizers to crops it is important that the applied spray uniformly covers the crop. To achieve a unform cover it is necessary to reduce the surface tension of the applied liquid. Hence the reason for incorporating SILGO® 48 in the spray.
Hereunder is the effect on surface tension reduction on a range of Plant Protection Products when SILGO® 48 is incorporated in the tank mix.

Better Crop Coverage
Applying SILGO® 48 results in a significant reduction in surface tension which enables uniform crop cover. This results in improved effect of the applied Plant Protection Product.
The surface tension effect of SILGO® 48 is also seen when using SILGO® 46, SILGO® 47 and SILGO® 40
